Privacy policy
Draft, not legal advice. This page explains in plain English how WeatheredOut works. A lawyer has not reviewed it, it may change before launch, and it should not be relied on as a legal document. Written October 2, 2026.
In short
WeatheredOut has no accounts, uses no cookies and shows no ads. It stores what you type to run a calculation, the results, and a few anonymous daily counts.
What we store when you run a calculation
- the address, ZIP code or place you typed, and the location it matched, with its coordinates
- the month, the weather rules, the baseline and specification preset you chose, and the station you picked, if you picked one
- the weather values, the station details and the day-by-day results
- a random report ID and the time
This is kept on our server so you can come back to the report. A jobsite address can identify a person or a small business, so treat it as personal information.
What we do not collect
We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, payment card numbers or advertising IDs. (Stripe collects some of these to take a payment: see “Who else receives data”.) The site uses no cookies. We do not save IP addresses in our database or in our own logs.
Anonymous counts
We keep daily totals, stored in our own database, of five things: calculator run, teaser viewed, unlock clicked, checkout started and purchase completed. A total is one number for one day and one event. Nothing in it identifies a person, a report or a network, and no outside analytics service is used.
Short-term memory
To limit abuse, the server remembers how many calculations a network address has run in the last ten minutes. That is held in the server’s memory only. It is not written to the database and it is lost when the server restarts.
Who else receives data
- U.S. Census Bureau Geocoder. A street address you type is sent to it to find the coordinates. A ZIP code or “City, ST” is looked up in files on our server and goes nowhere.
- NOAA weather data services. The coordinates and the dates are sent to get the weather observations.
- Payments. Payment is taken by Stripe, which acts as the merchant of record. Stripe collects what it needs to take the payment, such as your card details, name, email address and billing country, under its own privacy policy. We do not see your card number and do not store it. We keep, for each paid checkout, the Stripe session reference, the report it was for, the amount and the time. We do not keep your name or email address.
- Hosting. The site and its saved data are hosted by Render (render.com). Render may keep its own server logs.
Saved copies
To reduce load on those services, we keep street address look-up results for 30 days and weather responses for 24 hours.
How long we keep reports
Reports are kept until they are deleted. There is no automatic deletion yet. To ask for a report to be deleted, send the report link to support@weatheredout.com.
Children
WeatheredOut is for contractors and is not meant for children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when this draft was written.
WeatheredOut is documentation software. It is not legal, engineering or scheduling advice, expert testimony, or a determination of contractual entitlement. Verify results against your contract and official records.
